Professor Layton and the Unwound Future - Game Review

I finally finished the third Professor Layton Nintendo DS game, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future! The latest adventure finds the professor and his apprentice, Luke, attending a demonstration for a time machine where things go awry and the machine explodes, the Prime Minister and the scientist vanishing without a trace. Professor Layton receives a letter from someone who claims to be a future Luke. Layton and Luke have travel to the future to solve this mystery and bring back the Prime Minister.

There are 13 chapters in this game and the story delves into Layton's past so you learn more about the people he knew and how they all came to be (and who he got the top hat from!). Once again, the graphics of this game are superb and the story very well done. Like the previous two Professor Layton games, you walk around town and converse with people you meet, solving puzzles along the way. There are over 160 puzzles in this game, which will keep you busy for a long time. Indeed, I found this to be the longest Professor Layton game out of the three. One new feature is the 4th clue - previous games only gave 3 hints per puzzle, and the inclusion of the 4th clue made many of the puzzles much too easy. Many times it essentially gave the answer to the puzzle. The side games include Toy Car, Parrot and Picture Book, which were fun enough, if a bit challenging!

I definitely recommend Professor Layton and the Unwound Future to any fans of the Professor Layton series (see Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box! It is bound to provide you with hours and hours of entertainment!
