Canucks Win!

On Wednesday, my sister and I went to the Vancouver Canucks vs. Anaheim Ducks game using tickets from my contest win. We had pretty awesome seats, in section 109, row 11. Woot, woot! The game was great - we won 4-1. Yeaaaah, Raycroft! After the game, I went to guest services to pick up my autographed hockey sticks. We also got some freebies before, during and after the game. Here's a pic of what we got:

The four autographed hockey sticks.

D. Sedin (22), Bieksa (3), Kesler (17), H. Sedin (33). Unfortunately they all signed it in different places on the sticks so it makes it difficult to display!

Mitchell poster (from the autism fund), game day booklet that includes Burrows poster, Canucks cheer sign from Telus, 2x Snickers bars (ate one!), Irish Springs sample and coupon. Sis wanted to get a 50/50 raffle but we went out too late, so donated to the autism thing instead and got a rubber bracelet.

Just Dance Wii

After three months, I finally got my copy of Just Dance! Woot woot! I wanted to buy it on Boxing Day last year, but all the Zellers I went to did not carry it, and the one Zellers that did was sold out. I managed to get a rain check (it was half off - $19.99, reg $39.99). Today I made a trip to a Zellers faaaar away, and got my copy. I used up my last $5 Nintendo coupon (from cereal boxes), as well as the 15% off gift card I bought from Olympics. So my total bill was:

Regular: $39.99
Sale: $19.99 + tax = $22.39
- $5 Nintendo coupon = $17.39
- 15% gift card = $14.78 out of pocket! (paid with the gc)

Pretty sweet deal, in my opinion. This game is for my mum's birthday (I already gave her Wii Fit Plus for early Mother's Day), but since her bday isn't until October, I'm going to give it to her early too.

Only a Week Left to Use Your Board Game Coupons!

The awesome Hasbro/MB board game coupon from cereal boxes is expiring at the end of the month, so it's time to stop hanging on and run to your closest store to use these babies up! Walmart is having a sale on a few board games for only $10 each. And your coupon is for $10 off. So yes, that means...FREE BOARD GAME! Woot, woot! You still need to pay the tax, which is $1.20, but isn't it preferable to pay that instead of $11.20? I'm heading out to Zellers to try and price match the game today, so I can use my 10% SPC discount, as well as my 15% discounted gift card (that I was able to to buy for all Olympic workers and volunteers). The board games advertised in the Walmart flyer for $10 are Monopoly Championship Edition, Monopoly Town, and Giraffalaff Limbo. There are also other games $10 or less, so go check it out!

FREE Amazon Gift Cards & Prizes! Easy to get!

Swagbucks is an awesome search and win site that's totally legit, and you can earn rewards FAST. It's easy to do and you get 30 swagbucks right away if you use the link below. So far I have cashed out for $105 amazon.ca gift cards. There are other prizes as well, other gift cards, comics, wii consoles, PS3, nintendo DS, you name it! They offer a ton of prizes. All you have to do is search and you might be rewarded with points. The fastest way to earn though, is to enter a swagcode. Usually there is one a day! They also just revamped the site so there is a new layout, and the best part is, there are new ways to earn swagbucks! They multiplied everything by 10 though lol. But now you can get 3 sb a day for looking at the special offers, sb for using the toolbar, searching, and of course codes.

Search & Win

Irazoo is another search and win site. They recently changed it so that you can only win points, just like swagbucks, but there may be new ways to earn coming soon. If you live in the states, then you have access to the other prizes as well. Canadians can only get the Amazon gift card. I just redeemed for another $5 today (I think I'm up to $85 now)!

I just recieved my first $5 Amazon.ca gift card from Superpoints. I just joined it recently, but you basically play the lucky button everyday to win points. You can also search and win, or invite friends, do surveys or complete offers. Every 500 points gets you a $5 Amazon gift card (though there are other prizes to redeem for as well). I just click the super lucky button everyday, and that's about it. It doesn't take very long, and it's a great addition to all the gift cards you can get from Swagbucks and Irazoo.

Best Buy Grand Opening Flyer is Out

The Best Buy South Surrey grand opening sale flyer arrived with the local papers today. There aren't that many great deals this time. One that stands out is the New Super Mario Wii game for $39.99. While this is still expensive to me, you do save $20. Plus if you use your $5 or $10 Nintendo cereal coupons, it will only be $29.99 - $34.99.
They also have Taylor Swift's CD for $9.99 (regular version, not platinum) and Michael Jackson DVDs on sale. The rest of the games/music/movies are all 10% off.

There is a LG blu-ray player for $99.99 which is a pretty decent price. There are some other things in the flyers too, but I'm not really interested in them lol so take a look for yourself.

Finally, Shopping After 2 Months!

After a looooong shopping hiatus, due to work and lack of sales, I finally went back out there and did a small shop. Here's what I managed to pick up:

3x Biore Facial products @ $7.99 ea - $24 coupons + received $10 gift card wub 3
1x Iams Cat food @ $12.99 - $12.99 coupons = free
1x Iams Cat tins @ $1.29 ea - $2.58 = free wub Iams dry cat food
1x Ziploc bags @ $1.99 - $2 = free

Total: $4.94 tax + $10 gift card!

Pretty sweet shopping, I'd say! :)

Dole 1L Juice On Sale at Safeway

Safeway has Dole 1L juice blends on sale this week for only $1. There are 75cent off coupons out there that makes each box only 25cents each! It's a great deal, and I have bought a lot before when there were 99cent sales at other stores. Juice is hard to come by for free, and this is probably the closest you'll get! I'm running low now (only 5 cartons left!) so I'm going to take advantage of this sale as well if I get the chance to go to my nearest Safeway.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village - Game Review

I finally finished playing Professor Layton and the Curious Village. The citizens of the little town of St. Mystere loves puzzles. Professor Layton and his apprentice, Luke, arrive in order to solve a murder mystery as well as settle things about a will and a treasure. The story unfolds and as you walk around town, searching for clues, you must solve all sorts of puzzles along the way. You have to poke around to find the puzzles, sometimes by talking to the townsfolk, sometimes by investigating a random object. There are hint coins you can find and collect, and then use it for hints on how to solve the more challenging puzzles.

I found some of the puzzles a lot easier than the 2nd game, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (I played it out of order). The story was interesting as well, and there were of course some challenging puzzles. The animation and videos are very impressive, though not as good quality as the second game. There are some special extras that encourage you to purchase the next game, including a secret door that you can only open using a code found in the second game! Crazy! It's a worthwhile game to buy, though maybe get it when it's on sale (of course) or second hand, since once you solve all the puzzles and get through the story line, I doubt you will play it again. Hope you all enjoy it!

Paralympics are Over...What's next?

The Vancouver 2010 Winter Games are officially over.

I can't believe it! It's been such a wild two months, with the Olympics and Paralympics. I was lucky enough to go to the opening ceremony for the Olympics, as well as a game of sledge hockey (USA vs Japan) and wheelchair curling (Canada vs Germany). I went to many of the Canadian pavilions and some other free events that were going around in the city, but unfortunately with work, I wasn't able to see everything I wanted to. I'm going to post up some pictures and blog about the events I went to, when I get around to sorting my pics lol.

I had such a great time, and I'm really sad to see the games come to an end.

Now Vancouver has hosted Expo '86 (I was born that year, but I heard it was an awesome world fair!) and the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. What's next?

Another Great Deal on Wii Game!

Best Buy has the Wii game Drawn to Life The Next Chapter advertised at $9.99 this week in their flyer ($20 off their regular price). Futureshop sells it for $34.99, making it a $25 difference. Bring your flyer to Futureshop and price match. With the 10% price difference ($2.50), you'd only be getting the game for $7.49 (my FS price matched it at $7.38)! I also used a $5 Nintendo coupon from cereal boxes to bring my total down to $2.38 + tax. WHAT A STEAL! Hurry and go get your copy now!

Best Buy Grand Openings Always Bring in the Sales/Goodies/Signings!

There is a new Best Buy opening in South Surrey, and every time there is a grand opening, Best Buy has some sort of celebration! Sometimes it's a free concert (previously it was The Black Eyed Peas and Avril Lavigne), or excellent sales (I got 2 new DS games for $25 each, regular $34.99 and $39.99!), sometimes there are booths set up where you can get goodies, and signings from Canucks players. This weekend they brought in Alex Burrows from the Vancouver Canucks to do a signing for the first 300 people in line from 2-4pm. My sis and I arrived at 1:30 and we got wristband number 279 and 280! Lucky! We had to wait quite a while, but I got him to sign my hat and each got to take a picture with him.

Mason Raymond was at the South Surrey location. They are doing it again, next week you get to meet Iron Man on Saturday, then Alex Burrows again for another signing on Sunday, both at the new Surrey location. For all you Canuck die-hard fans out there, here's your chance to meet a player up close and get your favorite item autographed!

Shoppers Bonus Redemption! $170 worth of free stuff!

This weekend was another bonus redemption at Shoppers Drug Mart. Of course, I was able to scrap enough points together to redeem at the highest level ($150 + $20 bonus). My sister and I went off to our regular Shoppers, and this is what we picked up:

1x Green Giant frozen corn @ $3.49 ea
1x Fudge bars @ $6.99
1x Red Bean bars @ $5.99
4x Yogurt @ $2.99 ea
1x Milk @ $3.89

But yay, free stuff!!!

Tim Hortons Roll Up the Rim Contest

Tim Hortons once again is doing the Rol up the Rim to Win contest, where you can earn cash prizes, cards, netbooks and food and drinks from Timmies. The contest goes onto May 30, 2010, so there is plenty of time to go and grab a coffee at Tim Hortons. The chances of winning are 1 in 9, but I find it's really hard to win! Out of maybe around 20 cups, I only got a free coffee! I have heard people win donuts as well, but it seems that all the large prizes are won by residents of Ontario. Hmm. Has anyone ever had any luck winning anything other than coffee and donuts?

The Bounty Hunter - Movie Review

I got two pairs of advanced screening passes for The Bounty Hunter last night, starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler. Butler plays bounty hunter Milo Boyd and Aniston plays his ex-wife reporter Nicole Hurley. Milo has to bring in Nicole, except she's involved in a story that has to do with a murder cover-up, cops and some dangerous people, so they both have to avoid getting killed. I thought the movie was funny and worth watching. Jennifer Aniston fits these roles really well, but I thought Gerard Butler came off a little annoying. Good movie, great for a few laughs!

Please Vote! Only 3 more days left!

I entered my sister's pic in a contest, and the person who has the most votes wins a $500 shopping spree! If you vote, you also get a chance to win $500!! Please vote for me! The contest ends March 22 so there are only a few more days left and I'm currently sitting in 2nd place!

The Sales Have Started!

I was at The Bay a few days ago, and they have started marking down all the Olympic merchandise! A lot of things are 50% off, including pins. It's slim pickings though. There are a lot of Coke pins left, but only a few Vancouver type pins, and only a happy birthday mascot pin left. The nice clothes are also pretty much gone, and if you don't hurry, even the plain ones wont be left in your size, unless you can fit a XXL. Paralympic merchandise is full price at the moment. I don't know if this stuff will be marked down anymore, but I doubt it will be until there are only XXL things left. Things are flying off the shelves, so hurry and go now!!

Wii Sport Resort

Superstore has another great deal right now - half price on Wii Sports Resort!! It's regularly $59.99, but this week it is only $29.99! And of course, to save even more, mosey on over to Best Buy or Futureshop with your Superstore flyer and price match it there. This will save you another $3 with their additional 10% the difference price matching! Only $26.99! Then use your $5 or $10 Nintendo coupons and you can get it for as little as $16.99! ZOMG! What a steal! I would pick up a copy for myself, but I didn't think the games were all that great in it. Others have been saying it's an awesome game though. Now is the time to get your copy, but hurry, quantities are probably limited!!!

Pin Collection! Anyone Want to Trade?

I blogged about collecting lapel pins before, and now that the Olympics are over, I thought I'd post up how I did. I started out with 7 pins (2 non-Olympic) in my collection and it grew from there. I took my 2 non Olympic pins and traded them at the Coca Cola Pin Trading Centre at The Bay for two Olympic Coke pins. Then the rest of the pins, I got from visiting different pavilions or I won from contests/draws or just got for free from people. Any extras I got I traded away. And Voila! 111 pins (plus another 3 non-Olympic ones not shown)!!! The best part was, I didn't have to spend anything on these pins! I was just saying how collecting pins can be an expensive hobby (they sell for $8-10 in stores) but I proved that if you are a savvy pin collector, it doesn't have to cost you anything! If you do want to get a jump start, go out and buy some pins at 50% off and use those to start off your collection to trade at the Paralympics.

I hope you all had the chance to pin trade during the Olympics. After all, it's a sport that everyone can participate in! Some pin traders told me that there will still be pin trading going on during the Paralympics, so hurry and get your pins now!

Up Next...The Paralympics!

In a little over a week's time, the Paralympics will be starting! I already bought tickets to see the opening ceremony! I hope it's as good as the Olympics, since I didn't get to go to any of the events. :( Sledge hockey is already sold out - nuuuuu!! The only thing left that isn't in the mountains is wheelchair curling. I wouldn't mind watching that, but not sure my sister would be up to it.

There never seems to be as much excitement about the Paralympics than the Olympics. They should put the two events together so we can have a whole MONTH of partying and cheering, instead of breaking it up between months. Well anyway, I'll let you know how the opening ceremony goes and if I'm able to snag any tickets to events. You better buy your tickets NOW if you're planning to watch anything, since all the exciting events seem to be selling out fast!

Post Olympic Depression

After a surreal month, I'm back to being unemployed. The Olympics have come and gone and it was a TON of fun! I hope everyone had an awesome time just soaking in the atmosphere, watching the games, and checking out all the venues and houses. Canada's athletes did GREAT and brought in a record medal haul, with 14 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze medals. I'm so proud!! And that last hockey game against USA, what a nail biter! I went out after work and downtown was a total gongshow! The streets were packed, and everyone was cheering and high fiving everyone, honking their horns, it was great. I have never seen Vancouver come together like this, and I have a feeling it will never happen again. I'm really sad it's over and can't really believe it. It was like I've been on vacation for a month, and now it's back to real life. :( Of course, next up is the Paralympics, coming in mid-March! I've got tickets to the opening ceremony, I hope it's a lot of fun! I already miss work, and all my co-workers! :( We had a great party Monday night. I've friended a bunch of facebook, so hopefully we'll still keep in touch!
